1. What is a SSL certificate?
A SSL certificate is a small data file that ties a cryptographic key to the details of an organization.
When installed on a webserver, it activates the security lock and the HTTPS protocoll (over port 443) and enables a secure connection of the webserver and the browser. Usually SSL is used for credit card transactions, transfer of data and to secure logins.
2. How to integrate the SSL certificate on my website?
Click on "Settings" on the left-hand side, then on "Site SSL". Then click on "Create SSL certificate".
The creation of the certificate can take up to 30 minutes. After the creation the certificate has to be updated every third month, therefore you will receive an automatical reminding e-mail about 2 weeks before the certifcate expires.
3. You receive an error when you create the certificate?
If the certification malfunctions, you have to contact the hoster of your domain. Maybe there's another certificate activated (not valid for the new site) or a so called DNS record has to be deleted.
After the deletion you are able to create the certificate.
4. Is it possible to integrate a foreign certificate of another website or another security system?
No, the integration of a foreign certificate does not work. You're only able to work with our own certificates.
